More about Protalean Nutrition BCAA Capsules and why we use a 2:1:1 ratio
As you may already know L-Leucine is the most important amino to spark protein synthesis in the body. Protein synthesis is the process in which amino’s are transferred to the muscle cells. This in turn works to repair and grow muscle tissue following exercise. The 2:1:1 ratio of L-Leucine : L-Lsoleucine : L-Valine is the most research proven for results and this is why Protalean Nutrition use the 2:1:1 ratio. Other brands may have 4:1:1 or even 8:1:1 ratios of L-Leucine heavy BCAA’s but studies conducted have concluded that they are less effective than the 2:1:1 ratio.
One study by Baylor University tested a controlled group of college students. One group had just Leucine, one a 2:1:1 BCAA supplement, and the other a placebo. The study showed that while the Leucine only group experienced an increase in protein synthesis over the placebo group, the BCAA supplement group experienced the largest increase in protein synthesis. This is why we recommend a 2:1:1 ratio for optimal results.
